The Winter Semester Volunteer Opportunites
The Winter Semester does not have as many re-occuring volunteer opportunities due to weather conditions. But the ones that are in place are great long lasting traditions, that keeps the thrill and satisfaction of volunteering and serving the community alive.
Spring Send Off
Each Spring the Student Veterans Organization helps the student body discharge some stress prior to the week of finals. Funded by the Student Senate Activities Fund, the SVO provides free food, music and activities to not only send off the graduating class of that year; but to also say have fun over the summer break.
Paczki Day Sale
The Pazqki is a polish pastry that resembles the donut. It is eaten on Fat Tuesday in Polish cultures and has long since been adopted as a Metro-Detroit and Midwest tradition. The Student Veteran Organization obtains these delicious delicacies and sells them to the student population for a fair price. It is also pronounced "Poonchkee" for those who are familiar with the term.
Pins for Patriots
Pins for Patriots is a bowling event that was traditionally a fund raiser for the Student Veteran Organization. It was designed to raise money to help assist with some of the day to day costs of SVO as well as to provide cash flow for other events. It now has been reformatted as a social event to build camaraderie with in the SVO members.
